Planet Leicester Bakers is proud to share the first edition of its newsletter, Planet Leicester News!

It is hoped that the newsletter will be published twice yearly, giving the many Planet Leicester Bakers, our customers and supporters, an opportunity to keep up to date with everything we’ve been up to!

This first edition includes some sourdough history from guest contributor Concepta Cassar, a competition with a fabulous prize from Bread Angels founder Jane Mason, and lots of news from the past year of Planet Leicester Bakers.

Promoting Togetherness with a ‘Loaf of Love’

In these troubled times, is there someone near you who is maybe feeling a little less safe just now?  Small actions of togetherness can mean a lot.

” Feeling powerless last Monday, so did what I can do – baked a ‘Loaf of Love’ for our Polish neighours. They are worried, so are we. My partner and I said when we popped by with our offering that we are horrified by what is happening in the country. I cried. Their little girls liked the heart. #‎Togetherness‬

Planet Leicester Bakers has been created and carefully nurtured with very clear aims and principles.  At the very core of the business is a desire to use and exploit a common, much loved food stuff, to bring people together.  People from differing communities of common interest, not just those identified by ethnic or religious characteristics.  To build strength, mutual support, togetherness and understanding.

Along the way it is an opportunity to raise awareness of modern food production, to encourage people to question the food choices they make, and to empower people to take more control over their food and therefore their health and wellbeing; food really is the most basic stuff of life.

Not only that. For me, and therefore my very small business, to be truly part of a wide, diverse community demands building understanding and working together. It’s a no-brainer.  Whether that is at local, national, European or global level. And by doing so you reap benefits for yourself and others. Read More
