Good Bread Doing Good

Who we are

Welcome to Planet Leicester Bakers.

Bread making; bread training and activities; community projects; awareness raising…

Planet Leicester Bakers harnesses the power of good bread to do good in our communities.

Delicious, handmade bread is used to bring people closer together, building strength in themselves and their communities. Those who engage in training and projects become ‘Planet Leicester Bakers’.

Planet Leicester Bakers is made up of the sole trader business (with family volunteer support), project and activity partners  and the people and customers who engage in many different ways with the business.

Browse the site to find out what the business has achieved and what it offers. The ‘About‘ page gives a picture of how the business started. And visit the contact page  to start a conversation about any aspect of the business.

Thank you for visiting!

What we do

Micro-bakery

Since starting up Michelle the founder has run a micro-bakery business from her home kitchen just north of the city of Leicester. For busy event bake days she is helped by her partner who volunteers as bakery assistant!

Michelle is part of the international Bread Angels network and recommended by The Great Food Club. The bakery is registered with a 5* food safety rating from Charnwood Borough Council.

Bread training & activities

A trained and highly experienced adult tutor, Michelle loves teaching people how to make their own real bread – whether privately or in team building and organisation settings.

Community projects

Creating and delivering partnership community bread projects and activity to improve wellbeing is at the heart of Planet Leicester Bakers.

Working in partnership with charities, organisations and community groups, bread is used to bring people and communities together, break down barriers and offer benefits to mental and physical wellbeing.

Awareness raising

Planet Leicester Bakers is committed to increasing awareness about how bread is made and the benefits of non-industrial bread and food.

A successful public speaker, Michelle is available for event bookings. Whether it be for talks, demonstrations or something more tailored. Get in touch to discuss your needs.

“Great bread. Brilliant idea”

Lesley, bread making workshop attendee and bakery customer.

Hand-made bread

Planet Leicester Bakers has been baking beautiful, proper bread for local people since 2014. Currently the bakery runs a successful, growing Bread Bike delivery service in Leicester. Visit the bread sales page and enquire for up to date information.

Where we work

Based in the historical English city of Leicester, Planet Leicester Bakers and its partners work across the city and into the county with local people. Boundaries are no limit however, and enquiries from further afield are always welcome!

Leicester is a vibrant, multi-cultural city in the East Midlands region of England. In recent years its fame has spread internationally with the discovery of English King Richard III’s body under a city car park and the winning of the football Premiership by Leicester City FC. We have two excellent universities and a fantastic festival calendar, reflecting the cultural diversity of the city’s people.
